The reality show star allegedly attacked an Uber driver last year after he refused to allow her to use his phone charger.
From TMZ: “The drive started ok, but went to hell when Teairra asked the driver if she could use his charger for her i Phone. The driver claims she began punching him and grabbed the charger.
The singer and reality television star missed her scheduled court date in Los Angeles Monday, TMZ reports.
Teairra Mari was to appear before a judge in connection to assault allegations from a 2015 incident.
According to the news outlet, Mari didn’t show up for a court date in L. on Monday, so the judge wasted no time taking matters into his own hands.
The site also reports the reason she was scheduled to be in court—and it’s a doozy.
According to reports out of southern California, though Teairra Mari has hit a legal rough patch: a bench warrant has been issued for her arrest in connection with an assault and robbery charge. The legal paperwork in connection with the case states that, last year, Teairra assaulted her Über driver, then stole his phone charger.
Apparently, she asked if she could use his charger while he drove; the driver told police that, when he told Teairra no, “she began punching him and grabbed the charger.” At that point, “he pulled over, she refused to get out, and the cops were called.” Teairra said the driver was mistaken, but police did find his charger in her purse.
Teairra was expected in court on June 13th, to face the charges, but didn’t show up, and later that day explained she had simply written the wrong date down in her planner.
(Teairra’s lawyer didn’t comment on that point.) Per points out that Teairra could be headed straight for jail–though, again, there aren’t yet reports on how the rescheduled court date went (or didn’t go).
Her court date has been rescheduled for this morning (June 14).
Teairra Mari was the kind of R&B singer who was plucked up by Jay-Z and signed away to Def Jam at age 16, releasing a fairly successful single, "Make Her Feel Good;" the remix of which featured Kanye West.
Unfortunately, she was also the kind of R&B singer who would get a call on her prom night, informing her that she would be dropped from the label due to poor sales, despite not much in the way of promotion.
