These webcams are located in a Purple Martin colony on the shore of Lake Ontario west of Rochester, N. One camera is mounted in a plastic gourd suspended beneath condominiums style martin houses.
The gourd was chosen to mount the camera because it is roomier than the condo apartments.

If the images are black, it is very likely nightime here in the Eastern Daylight Time Zone.
If the view is not changing between the two cameras it generally means that the colony proprietress is intent on watching something going on in one of the gourds or perhaps it is early morning or evening when the gourd views are too dark and lots of activity can be seen by staying on the wide view of the colony.

Adult males (which exhibit adult plumage typically after two years of age) are uniformly dark in color – with its wings and tail dark black and the remainder of the body feathers showing an iridescent purplish-blue black color.
Adult females are noticeably lighter in appearance.
The females exhibit a grayish breast, neck and forehead with whitish colored feathers on her stomach (belly).
Similar to the male, she also has black wing and tail feathers and iridescent purplish blue-black feathers on her back and shoulders (although much less conspicuous).
Cables from the cameras are buried under beach sand and lead to a nearby dwelling where a cable connection to the internet is available.
Another camera in a traditional security housing provides outside views of the colony.
